Big Talk Therapy

Couples Therapy & Marriage Counseling in Pasadena, CA

For partners navigating communication breakdowns, trust repair, and family conflict. The first couples session is 1 hour and 15 minutes, with 55-minute sessions after that.

Marriage counseling, to me, means looking at what’s underneath the argument, not just the argument itself. Most couples I work with aren’t actually fighting about the dishes or the calendar. They’re fighting about older patterns, the ways each partner learned to seek closeness or protect themselves, showing up in a new relationship. I use attachment theory and Internal Family Systems (IFS) to help both of you see what’s actually happening between you, not just referee the surface conflict.

You might be here because the same argument keeps happening, no matter how it starts. Or because the relationship feels harder to be in than it used to, even without a single clear cause. Some couples come in after something specific happened and trust needs to be rebuilt. Others just want language for a pattern they can feel but can’t quite name.

Big Talk Therapy is my solo practice, so you’ll work with the same therapist every session, not whichever provider has an opening. Whatever you’re working through, we’ll work through it together, as a team.

Questions about getting started

What does a first couples session look like?
The process starts with a brief consultation, a chance to talk about what’s bringing you in and ask any questions before committing to anything.
Why is the first session longer?
The first couples session is 1 hour and 15 minutes, so there’s enough time to get a fuller picture before settling into the regular 55-minute session length.

Fees

Couple sessions are $250. A sliding scale is available and considered case by case, so if cost is a concern, reach out to talk about your options.
